SDCRM supports EWG and their mission. They provide several great resources. We suggest visiting EWG’s website when you are considering grocery items and healthcare/beauty products.
Each year they come up with their list of “Clean” and “Dirty” produce. This can be very useful, especially on a tight budget. Strawberries and spinach top the “Dirty” list this year. Organic spinach is quite affordable though, so there is probably little reason to eat anything but organic.
On the flip side, organic avocados can be very expensive. That is too bad as this is a “superfood” that should be consumed regularly. As a bonus, avocados are frequently local to Southern California too. Since avocados are #2 on the “Clean” list, however, this might be an item you forgo the organic label, get some wonderful nutrition, and save yourself some dough!
Be Well!
