New research shows why calorie restriction made mice live longer and healthier lives. Calorie restriction is the most robust and repeatable approach to living longer. It seems to slow metabolism and oxidative stress, this leading to longer lives. There is a much more appetizing (sorry for the bad pun) approach, however. It is easy and affordable.
